Here’s all you need to know about that dazzling upcoming attraction, latest luxury resort, and unmissable event of the year.
1 – Mandarin Oriental Jumeirah, Dubai
Dubai’s newest, and most luxurious beachfront resort is all set to welcome guests in the first quarter of 2019. The spectacular California-style studded venue boasts 178 chic rooms, and 78 elegant suites, with breathtaking beach and city views, as well as, six exquisite restaurants, and state-of-the-art hospitality amenities, sure to impress.
2 – FIVE Jumeirah Village Dubai
Strategically located in close proximity to Dubai’s new Al Maktoum International Airport and Expo 2020 site, this luxury five-star tower is set to be a stunner. It will feature 247 hotel rooms and suites, 221 one and two-bedroom hotel apartments and 33 four-bedroom hotel apartments, all with private pools. Now that’s called next level grandeur.
3 – The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences
Dubai’s second ‘Atlantis’ branded ultra-luxury resort is scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2019, set to revolutionize Dubai’s version of iconic landmarks. Featuring 795 guest suites in the left wing and 231 apartments in the right, both towers will be interconnected via a 90-metre sky high infinity swimming pool. A dramatic destination featuring fire and water – from fireworks to fountains, now there’s something unique to look forward to.
4 – Dubai Eye
The giant Ferris wheel stands tall at a staggering height of 210m making it the highest of its kind in the world; yet another record breaker for Dubai. Located off the popular Jumeirah Beach Residences (JBR) beachfront, at the glamorous new Bluewaters Island, Dubai Eye is set to offer unparalleled 360-degree views of Dubai’s iconic skyline.
5 – Madamme Tussauds
Typically featuring a range of famous personalities, including singers, actors, politicians, sports star and historical figures, this famed waxwork museum is tipped to open in Dubai this year on Bluewaters Island, right beside Dubai Eye. Considering the London branch has many figures from the British royal family, be sure to expect some good surprises here.
6 – Cityland Mall
Described as the world’s first ‘nature-inspired’ shopping mall, Cityland Mall is packed with botanical flare. Expected to be in full bloom this year, don’t miss your session of retail therapy as you spend time in nature.
7 – Dubai Arena
Opening in City Walk this year, Dubai Arena will have a capacity of up to 17,000 people, and will host live shows 365 days a year. The unique automated seating design, will allow it to host events of all sizes, from gala dinner and conferences to sporting tournaments and concerts, too.
8 – Mohammed Bin Rashid Library
Construction is well underway on this huge, new world-class library, which is designed to resemble an open book sitting on a rehl – a traditional lectern which holds the Quran. When complete, the seven-storey library is expected to be the largest cultural centre in the region, housing more than 4.5 million books.
9 – Phantom of the Opera
Phantom of the Opera, one of the most popular musicals in the world, is coming to Dubai Opera this Autumn. Having won more than 70 major theatrical awards, including seven Broadway awards, it’s also the longest running show in Broadway history. Tickets go on sale soon, so get them while you still can.
10 – Dubai International Film Festival
The red carpet is rolling out for the 15th edition of Dubai International Film Festival this year, after a two year break. Initially launched in 2004, the star-studded event has grown to be the biggest film event in the region. Don’t miss the action this year, all set to dazzle with ‘a new approach’.
