The Burj Al Arab, regarded as not just one of the best hotels in the world but also a landmark architecture for the city of Dubai and the rest of the United Arab Emirates. Standing at 321 meters high, it was the tallest hotel in the world when it first opened in December 1999. It now stands number five on the list of tallest hotels in the world
The 7-Star Myth
During its pre-opening press trip, a British journalist was so impressed that she described in her report that the hotel was so luxurious that it had to be ‘a 7 – Star’. And that title became synonymous with the hotel and thus, the myth of the ‘7-Star Hotel began’. However, to this day the standard hotel rating system has only recognized up to 5 stars. Hence, the Burj Al Arab is formally known as a 5 Star Deluxe Hotel.
