For The Very First Time, His Holiness Pope Francis Will Visit The UAE!

The Visit Will Take Place From February 3 to 5

The historic visit of Pope Francis – the first to a GCC member country — is at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and will take place from February 3 to 5.

The official itinerary of Pope Francis’ three-day visit to Abu Dhabi has finally been announced by the Vatican. It includes a private meeting with the Muslim Council of Elders at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, an International Interfaith Meeting on ‘Human Fraternity’, followed by the celebration of a Papal Mass at Santa Messa in Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City, on February 5, at 10:30am.

The UAE is home to over 40 churches, significantly more than all the other GCC countries combined. More than one million Catholics and other Christian expatriates living in the UAE have the freedom to practice their faith alongside other religions, and are excited on the first visit of Pope Francis to the UAE in February 2019.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, tweeted “The UAE is delighted to welcome His Holiness Pope Francis on the upcoming visit to the UAE. He is a symbol of peace, tolerance and the promotion of brotherhood. We look forward to a historic visit, through which we will seek dialogue on the peaceful coexistence among peoples”.
