This historic monument built in the 1950’s showcases the rise of Dubai, from a small fishing town to the glamorous city it has bloomed into. It is built in a traditional and rare structure called ‘wakala’. ‘Wakala’ was once upon a time a famous Islamic architectural style. Many rare photographs can be found here. This includes the first public meetings of Dubai municipals, the sites of Al Shola, clock tower roundabouts, and the beginning of the first buildings and renovation in Dubai. It engages visitors with knowledge about how this city bravely fought the economic crisis of the era. It also explains how the first oil fields were excavated, as well as several contracts and key-agreements regarding the very first investments of the city and state.
